Edward Bailey Gilliland, 83, passed away Friday, October 10, 2003 in a Ft. Worth Hospital after a brief illness.Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at White's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Monday at White's Funeral Home. Mr. Gilliland was born in Springtown on April 4, 1920 to Bertie L. Gilliland and Ella Gilley Gilliland. He married Anna Mae Passmore on June 4, 1940, and was married 63 years. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Bailey Gilliland in 1945; and sisters Artie G. Thompson in 1990 and Berle G. McGoodwin in 1998. In the 1940's and 50's Mr. Gilliland transported milk from local farms to Metzger's Dairy in Dallas, about which he shared many stories. He worked as a mechanic in the late 50's at Klein Brothers Garage in Springtown. In the 1960's he and his wife, Ann, owned and operated a Phillips 66 station in Springtown. During retirement he ran a local wrecker service. He loved driving his pickup truck frequently with Ann and their beloved pet "Buddy". Over the years he made many trips to Colorado with family and friends.
