WEATHERFORD -- Doyce L. "Jack" Messimer, 77, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, in a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral: 3 p.m. Monday at White's Chapel of Memories. Burial: East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at White's Weatherford funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Jack suggested a donation to his favorite charity, Care, 151 Ellis St. NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30303-2440. Jack was born in Strawn on Oct. 14, 1926. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from TCU in 1962. Jack worked at General Dynamics as a tool planner from 1947 to 1962 and at Bell Helicopter as a tool engineer from 1962 to 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a grandson. Survivors: Thelma (Barker), wife of 56 years; daughters, Bette Cook and husband, Norman of Waco, Sherri of Huntsville, Ala.; sons, Alan and wife, Paula of Coppell and Roger and wife, Julie of Weatherford; grandchildren, Brett Cook, Allison and Jody Messimer and Madison and Harrison Kidd; sister, Mary Robertson; brother Murry and sister-in-law, Dora Mae, all of Weatherford; and many nieces and nephews.
