Esther Lavina Hamilton Montgomery

Esther Hamilton Montgomery, 87, passed away Monday, December 1, 2003 in Gilmer.Esther Montgomery was born October 8, 1916 in Morringsport, LA. She was a long-time resident of Springtown. Mrs. Montgomery loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She taught Sunday School, and was active in Sunbeams and other church activities. Mrs. Montgomery was very proud of her family's history. Two of her great-grandfathers had been governors, both Texas and Florida. Mrs. Montgomery was married for over 50 years to Homer Clayton Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; daughter, Carol Sue Lanier, son, Baby Tee; and granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Montgomery. Survivors: Daughters, Emma Lou Mayers of Odessa, Esther Charlene Hart of Grand Prairie; Peggy Ann Holder of Gilmer; son, H. Clay Montgomery of Lake Kiowa; brothers, William Everett Hamilton and Charles Russell Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
