Eula J. "Hokie" Slimp, 74, went to rest in peace on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, in Decatur.Funeral: 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at White's Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown. Burial: Cottondale Cemetery. Visitation: 7-9 p.m., Friday at White's Funeral Home. Eula Slimp was born in Granbury on Feb. 10, 1929, to John and Jannie Read. She grew up in Boyd, where she attended school. Eula was fond of writing, sewing, and cooking. She married K.L. Slimp, Jr., on June 30, 1950, and they worked together on their farm until his death in 1991. Mrs. Slimp is preceded in death by her husband, Kemp Lowe Slimp, Jr.; brothers, David Daniel Read and Billy Joyce Read. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.Survivors: Daughters, Pamela Kirby Peeper and husband, Wade of Springtown, Deborah Leigh Slimp and husband, Timothy Virgo of Golden, CO, Karen Rae Slimp and husband, Jeff Holland of Portland, OR, Shirlynn Read Slimp of Austin; grandchildren, Eric Lee Kirby, Aaron Mitchell Kirby, Nicholas Graham Slimp- Holland, Ian Paul Slimp- Holland, Mytila Jamie Marie Slimp; great-grandchildren, Alexis Kirby-Hall and Byron Jarred Kirby; and sisters, Jessie Taylor, Letha Wilson, and Thelma Wilson.
