Aubrey Wilson "Gus" Bodiford, 91, a retired farmer, rancher, and salesman, passed from this life to eternity Friday, February 6, 2004 in a Fort Worth hospital.Aubrey Wilson "Gus" Bodiford was born to Luther Augustus and Edna May Jones Bodiford October 13, 1912 on his grandfather's farm which is the oldest land survey, in the Davis Community in Meeks Bend on the Brazos River. He attended the Davis school, a one- room schoolhouse located on the family place, then graduated from Weatherford High School. He married the former Lucille Clayton and together they lived on the Bodiford family farm. Mr. Bodiford worked over 30 years as a shoe salesman for W.H. Bowden and Sons Department Store. He was a life long member of the Highway Church of Christ, which was founded in a tabernacle on the river when he was a young boy. Mr. Bodiford was the oldest member and participated in services until shortly before his death.Survivors include sons, Royce Bodiford and wife, Helen of Odessa, Richard Bodiford of Millsap; daughter, Pamela Bodiford Kessler and husband, Paul of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, Terry Bodiford of Houston, Michelle Olson of Amarillo, and David Clayton Kessler of Fort Worth; great grandchildren, Matthew and Hunter Bodiford and Hayley and Alex Olson; and many cousins.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at White's Chapel of Memories, Weatherford. Burial will follow in the Poe Prairie Cemetery, Millsap. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
