Mattie R. Moore Coder

Mattie R. Moore Coder, 98, a retired schoolteacher, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at her home in Aledo.Mattie R. Moore Coder was born Dec. 2, 1905, in Cresson, to Edward and Mae Crenshaw Moore. She was a member of Aledo United Methodist Church and Weatherford Chapter 21 Order of the Eastern Star. Mattie taught 35 years in Aledo, where Mattie R. Coder Elementary School was named after her.She married Roy Lee Coder in 1939. Mattie was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was everyone's angel who always had a smile. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; great-grandson, Dylan Shaw and her brother, L.S. Moore.Survivors: Daughters, Grace Coder Shaw of Fort Worth and Betsy Coder Dearing and husband, Jake "Bud" Dearing of Gordon; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Ila Mae Porter of Mineral Wells; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and former students.
