Gertie Rhoten Newby

FORT WORTH -- Gertie Rhoten Newby, 98, an entrepreneur, departed this life Monday, February 23, 2004. Graveside Services: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 10 a.m., Wednesday at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. Memorials: Christ Heaven Children's Home in Keller. Gertie was born in Paradise to William Jackson and Ardelia Rhoten. She moved to Fort Worth in 1936. Gertie was a charter member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ and was the nursery attendant for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors: Daughters, Janell McDonald and husband, Wayne, Jorene Peden; grandchildren, Gary McDonald, Judy McDonald, Kay Hiatt and husband Alan, Annette Boyd and Bret Peden; great-granddaughter, Kara Beth Boyd; sisters, Jewel Fletcher and Velma Shepard; sister-in-law, Louise Rhoten; numerous nieces and nephews.
