Connie Berry Parsons, age 93, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2004 in Weatherford.Connie Hankins was born in Vernon, Alabama in 1911 to John and Sennie Hankins. In 1929 she married Joseph Elmer Berry, and they had one son, Joe Everett. Elmer passed away in 1970. In 1974, Connie married Bill Parsons, who died in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Kinney, brothers, Denman and Bill Hankins, and daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae Berry.Connie, known as "Granny" to many, was a long-time member of The Church in Peaster. She loved her church and taught Sunday school for 42 years to many generations of children in the Peaster community. Connie was also the director of the Peaster Community Center for many years and made countless pies for the monthly musicals held there. She was a musician herself and played the guitar. She and Bill played in a band that performed at musicals and nursing homes in the 1980s. She also loved to grow things and always had a garden, fruit trees, and flowers growing around her home. Connie was an avid photographer and took hundreds of pictures of members of her church, performers at musicals, and family members.Survivors include her son, Joe Everett Berry; grandson, Joe Eldon and wife, Adrianne; granddaughter, Anita Montgomery and husband, Wayne; great grandchildren, Dianna, Michael, and Emily; sisters, Jewell MacAuthur and Jean Crosby; brother, Jack Hankins; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by Sharon Berry, James Parsons, Michael Parsons, and Ricky Parsons and numerous grandchildren that are a part of the Parsons family.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004 at The Church in Peaster. Burial will follow in the Dilbeck Cemetery, Peaster. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
