Verna Shaw Bearden, 76, of Aledo, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004 ? and is now safe at home in the arms of the Lord.Verna was born to Bell and Barnie Shaw on October 14, 1927 in Garner. She grew up in Aledo, where she lived the rest of her life. Verna was a graduate of Aledo High School and was employed by the Aledo ISD for more than 20 years. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Aledo where she married Dub ? the love of her life ? in 1951. Through the years, she taught Sunday School, Training Union and Vacation Bible School. She was active in her Sunday School Class and enjoyed spending time with her dear friends in the class. Verna was a fine Christian woman and a shining example and witness to her family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to her. Verna was a wonderful cook. Her hobby was writing poetry. She compiled a book for her family that contains more than 120 poems that she wrote. She was preceded in death by her parents Bell and Barnie Shaw; sister Mattie Shaw Glover; and brothers B.J. Shaw and Alvis Shaw.Survivors include husband, W.H. "Dub" Bearden of Aledo; daughter, Kathy White of Fort Worth; sons, Randy Bearden and wife Beverly of Whitewright; and Rusty Bearden and wife Lee Ann of Aledo; grandchildren: Will White and wife Tara of Glenpool, Oklahoma; Ashley Bearden of College Station; Aaron, Brittney, Blake, Christopher, Callie and Drake Bearden of Whitewright; and Bailey and Jesse Kay Bearden of Aledo; sisters-in law Billie Shaw Bell of Weatherford, Frankie Parr of Baird, and Bonnie Taylor and husband Carl of Sherman; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends ? all of whom will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Aledo. Interment will follow in the Aledo-Brown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Aledo, Building Fund, 128 Elm Street, Aledo, Texas 76008
