Jack Wendell Holt, 80, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at a Fort Worth medical center. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Aledo. Burial: Martin Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. Jack Wendell Holt was born July 19, 1924, in Plainview to Henry Isaac and Sudie Daniel Hamilton Holt. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member and past president of the Lions Club and Martin Cemetery Association, which he helped make a historic site. He also was the first city secretary of Aledo and was instrumental in getting Aledo incorporated. Jack owned Aledo Counter Top. He had a passion for genealogy. Jack married Lucy Southard April 7, 1943, in Big Springs. Survivors: Wife of 61 years, Lucy; children, Jack Wendell Holt Jr., Christine Ann Holt Kubosh and husband, David Joe and Carol Beth Holt Beaird; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
