Mary Etta Houston, 100, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at a Fort Worth hospital. Mary Etta was born June 9, 1904 in Mary's Creek Community, Baylor County, to William Monroe and Doshia Welch. She was a member of First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school for almost 50 years. Mary Etta enjoyed playing the piano at church and for the residents of the nursing home. She never missed an opportunity to witness and share scriptures with others. Mary Etta was a beloved mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.H. Houston in 1985. Survivors: Daughters, Betty Smoot of Odessa, Jerry Skinner of Granbury, Sammie Wolfe, and husband Larry of Springtown; grandchildren, Judy Short of Dallas, Mickey Holcomb of Odessa, Nadine Taliaferro of Azle, Mike Dusek of Springtown, Gayla Dunn of Lakeside, Daren Dusek of Decatur, Marc Dusek of Decatur; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
