George "Mac" Burnette Jr., 79, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with his heavenly Father and his wife Saturday, August 21, 2004 at an Arlington hospital.George Burnette Jr. was born March 6, 1925 in Pecos, Texas to George and Annie Bishop Burnette. George served in World War II as a staff sergeant. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 42 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was an elder of Central Christian Church, a former member of the Optimist Club and an avid hunter. He enjoyed life and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all. George was preceded in death by his wife, Loy Burnette, a granddaughter, Ellen Christine Burnette, and sister, Betty Hiatt.Survivors include children, Debbie Burnette, Karen Barry and husband, Paul, Kevin Burnette; grandchildren, Courtney Burnette, Julie Carl, Colyn Barry, Jon Barry; sister, Fern Brown; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Huffman and Frances Hackfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
