Gertie Elizabeth Ansley, 96, a retired teacher, died Friday, December 3, 2004 in an Azle nursing home.Gertie Elizabeth Roe Ansley was born February 22, 1908 in Azle to Isaac Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Smith Roe. She received her Masters degree from Texas Christian University. Mrs. Ansley taught in the Forrester, Aledo and Azle schools. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher's sorority, Azle Retired Teachers Association, N.E.A., T.S.T.A., and the Parker County Extension Education Association. Mrs. Ansley was also a member of the Azle Library Board and the Azle Historical Museum Board. She was associated with the Girl Scouts of America for over fifty years. Mrs. Ansley was a member of the Ash Creek Baptist Church of Azle.Mrs. Ansley was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Ansley in 1949, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ansley in 1995. Survivors include sons, Roe Ansley and wife, Sharman of Liberty Hill, Terry Ansley and wife, Billie of Azle; daughter, Rex Ballauer and husband, David of Azle; grandchildren, Jay Ballauer, Jan Young, Brady Ansley, Amber Ansley, Lisa Roberts, Crystal Ansley, and Jennifer Ansley; great grandchildren, Alex Wertz, Breon Roberts and London Haren; sister, Pat Torell of Azle.Funeral services are scheduled 3 p.m. Monday at Ash Creek Baptist Church, Azle. Burial will follow in the Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, Azle. Memorials donations may be made to the Azle Historical Museum, P.O. Box 1442, Azle 76098 or the Azle Public Library, 609 Southeast Parkway, Azle 76020.
