John H. Thomson, II, 79, of Paradise, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home.Funeral: 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 17 at Pleasant Grove II Baptist Church. Burial: New Hope Cemetery. Visitation: Sunday, January 16 from 4-6:00 P.M. at Whit's Funeral Home. John H. Thomson, II was born December 27, 1925, in Fort Worth, to John H. Thomson, Sr. and Jenny L. Michels Thomson. He moved to the Springtown area in December 1929. John was a Union Sheet Metal Worker for 32 years. He served in the United States Navy, June 28, 1948 - February 13, 1950, where he was a diesel mechanic. He became a skin diver and had the honor to meet Jacques Cousteau while diving. John taught skin diving for several years and served as Deputy Sheriff for about three years. He was a beekeeper for over 40 years and a member of Pleasant Grove II Baptist Church, an Endowed Member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge for over 40 years, life time member of the National Rifle Association of America and Texas State Rifle Association, member of the Sheet Metal International Union No. 68 for over 50 years, member of Springtown Neighbor to Neighbors and Springtown Optimist Club. John was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Thomson. John is survived by his wife of 38 1/2 years, Virginia Juanita Gage Thomson; brother, Ray Thomson; sons, Billy J. and Linda Thomson, Johnny and Susie Thomson, Henry and Mary Beckworth; three grandsons; four granddaughters; eight great-grandsons; and ten great granddaughters.
