Geneva Elders Young, 89, of Weatherford, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 in a Fort Worth Senior Care Center.The daughter of John A. Elders, Sr. and Ollie Myrtle Jones Elders, Geneva was born in Denton, Texas June 20, 1915. She and Coy D. Young were married April 6, 1940. Geneva and Coy were life-long residents of Parker County.Geneva and Coy were educators in rural Parker County schools for a total of 41 years. Geneva taught for 34 of those years with one year at Poolville, two years at Millsap and 31 years at Brock High School before retiring in 1975.She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sisters, Dorothy Elders Banker, and Geraldine Elders Rathburn and brother, Roy Elders.Prior to Coy's death she was an active member of the Brock Baptist Church and after moving to Weatherford she was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Priscilla Class of the Adult 6 department.Geneva lived life to the fullest. She was a friend to everybody having been so involved with the education of many Parker County families. She was a charter member of the Parker County Retired Teachers Association, an active member of the Weatherford College Alumni Group where she was named Outstanding Alumnus in 1999.She and Coy were members of an RV group and loved to travel taking time out of her busy summers to serve as greeter, decorator and unofficial Historian of the annual Brock Alumni summer meetings.She loved her sports and in particular her Brock Eagles and Lady Eagles, her Weatherford College Coyotes and Lady Coyotes and her TCU Horned Frogs. She never met a game she didn't like and she could talk to generations of athletes as her own children.Survivors include one son. Dale, Director of Student Teaching/ Career Services, School of Education, TCU, and brothers, Charles Howard Elders and wife, Mary and John A. "Buddy' Elders and wife, Jane; nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews; and hundreds of former students and friends.Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 225 Church Street, Weatherford with former pastor Dr. Tom Shelton officiating.
