Archie "Elmo" Grable, 94, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Community Hospice House of Texas.Elmo Grable was born October 25, 1910, in Parker County, to Rudolph and Sarah Howard Grable. He worked at Convair which later became General Dynamics and retired after 33 years. Elmo was a member of Faith Community Church in Ft. Worth, the Musicians Union, Woodmen of the World, member and past president of Moslah Shrine Chanters and 50 year member of Cooke Peavy Blue Lodge. He was a fiddle player with several bands of his own; he played with the Cowtown Rhythm Boys and his last band was The Over the Hill Gang. They played in nursing homes and several retirement centers in Ft. Worth and Weatherford. He played until 2002. Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son, Archie Elmo Grable, Jr.Survivors include wife of 70 years, Ruth Cox Grable, daughter, Elma Ruth Shen and husband, John "J.L."; grandsons, John Shen, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Weldon Grable; grandaughter, Vycke Shen Horback and husband, Robert; six great grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, and Alan Horback, Chrissy, Cyndi, and Luke Shen; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.Funeral services are schedule 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 5, 2005 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Burial will follow in the Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials donations may be made in Elmo's name to the Shrine Children's Hospital or Community Hospice of Texas.
