Don Neely Strickland, 55, a loving companion, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and beloved friend, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2005 in an automobile accident.Don was born on June 8, 1949, in Weatherford, Texas, to Joe and Ruby Lee Strickland. Don attended Weatherford Junior College and Texas Tech University, concentrating in Industrial Management. He was involved in the general contracting field with J.L. Bertram Construction and Engineering, Inc. and was currently a business owner of SRO General Contracting Company and General Superintendent of AOC Contracting, LP. Don was in contracting and construction in Tarrant County for 40 years. He was involved in the community of Springtown through his association with the First Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School Director and Finance Committee Chairman. He served on the Springotwn ISD School Board for 12 years, was a member of the Springtown Optimist Club, Springtown ISD Booster Club and was an avid Porcupine supporter. Don's devotion to his loving companion, parents, children, grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends was exceptional just as the man he was. He brought joy to those around him; his many friends admired his generous and compassionate nature. Don was preceded in death by parents; and brother-in-law, Jerry Ellis.Survivors: Loving companion, Roxana Novoa; children, Andrea Strickland, Stryker Strickland, Tito Medina, Marco Stone, and Joe D. Strickland; grandchildren, Taylor Strickland, Tristan Guidry; sister, Connie Ellis; nieces and nephews, Mike and Toni Ellis, Donna Ellis, Chris and Jill Dodd, Jaclyn Dodd, and Harley Grady; extended family members and numerous friends.
