Ethel Stevens Plumlee, 100, a loving and devoted wife and mother and longtime resident of Parker County, died Thursday, July 21, 2005.Mrs. Plumlee was born in Parker County to James Louis Stevens and Ida Belle Hemphill Stevens in 1905. She had five brothers and two sisters; all are deceased. She married Willis Frank Plumlee on December 23, 1923, in Weatherford, Texas. Mrs. Plumlee's family and friends were very important to her. She stayed in touch with them all, sending cards on special occasions to all of her family and many friends.Mrs. Plumlee was a long time member of the Peaster Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years, and she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Currently she was a member of the Adell Community Fellowship.She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and two sons, Wesley and Troy Plumlee.Mrs. Plumlee lived in an assisted living care home in Weatherford. The family would like to express their appreciation to the health care providers who have cared for her.Survivors include daughters, Rosalene Bassett and husband, Charles of Weatherford, and Evelyn Simpkins and husband, Wayne of Fort Worth; sons, Howard Plumlee of Peaster, Donald Plumlee and wife, Fran of Peaster, and Ronald Plumlee and wife, Judy of Big Spring; daughter-in-law, Joan Plumlee of Burlington. Mrs. Plumlee is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Mike Plumlee, Diane Smith, Charlie Bassett II, Greg Bassett, Cynthia Cox, Tony Plumlee, Lori Plumlee, Stephen Plumlee, Jeffrey Plumlee, Donald Gene Plumlee Jr., Amy Pfeiffer, Kerri Whitehead, and Kyle Plumlee; and 20 great grandchildren.A celebration of her life is planned 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, 221 W. Church Street, Weatherford with the Reverend Mike Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. In lieu of flowers the family desires memorials to be made to the Adell Community Fellowship, 101 Adell Road, Weatherford 76088, Dilbeck Cemetery Association, Box 172, Peaster 76485, or Zion Hill Cemetery Association, 2750 Zion Hill Loop, Weatherford 76088.
