C.W. "Tex" Finney, 69, passed over the great divide Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005. Graveside service: 4 p.m. Monday in Springtown Cemetery. The funeral cortege will depart White's Funeral Home at 3:45 p.m. for the cemetery. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home. C.W. "Tex" Finney was born and raised in Plainview to Belton and Dovie Newton Finney. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam and Korean wars. Tex worked for many West Texas ranches, including the Pitchfork Ranch at Guthrie, Dinner Creek at Silverton, and Saunders Ranch in Weatherford. Being a top chuckwagon cook, he will be well remembered for his wagon cooking as well as his colorful stories. A big man with a big heart, a happy spirit, he will be sorely missed. Tex was a true cowboy in every sense of the word. Tex was preceded in death by a daughter, Dovie, in 2004. Survivors: Wife of 19 years, Erlene; sons, Tex Clinton, David and Bo; daughters, Nicole and Julie; brothers, Alton and Richard; and grandson, Mateo.
