Billie Howard Altom, 88, a retired paint contractor, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2005 in Fort Worth with family and friends at his side. Funeral: 10:00 a.m., Thursday at White's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Bill was born March 15, 1917 in Sulphur Springs. He served in the U.S. Army in W.W. II and was involved in the Normandy Invasion. Bill hit Normandy Beach in June, 1944. He loved to fish and watch old westerns. Bill was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen in 2002. Survivors: Sons, Darryl and wife, Kim, Darvin and wife, Denese; grandchildren, Amanda Bailey and husband, Shafter, Kristen Sanders and husband, Joe, Corey, Macy and Grayson Altom; great-grandchildren, Shea and Heather Bailey, Zechariah Sanders, all of Springtown; sister, Eddie Faye Curran of Lake Worth; and very close friend, Alvie "Pinky" Bledsoe of Burleson.
