SPRINGTOWN -- George Calvin Hood, 85, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in Weatherford. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday at White's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at White's Funeral Home. George was born April 7, 1920 in Springtown to Roger and Hattie Fraizer Hood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WW II. George was owner and operator of the Springtown Gas Co. for 35 years. Mr. Hood was an original director of First Bank and Trust of Springtown. He was preceded in death by wife, Frances Chilcutt Hood; brothers, Ross Hood, Ford Hood and sister, ViEllen Green; and step-daughter, Jane Smith Greene. Survivors: wife, Dorothy Smith Hood; daughter, Shella Hood of Bedford; sons, Ricky Hood and wife, Susie of Reno, Greg Hood and wife, Rita of Springtown; step-children, Jr. and Cindy, Lynn and Brenda, Norman and Billie, Janet and Jimmy, Wanda and Woody, Elaine and Rusty; brother, Ralph Hood; five grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and other relatives.
