Sheldon "Shotgun" Hemphill, 58, died Sunday, December 4, 2005.Shotgun was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 1, 1947, to G. Porter and Thelma Hemphill. After he graduated from Elgin High School, Shotgun worked as an Operating Engineer and managed gravel companies. In 1985, his love of cutting horses and the outdoors led him into ranch management. At the time of his passing, Shotgun managed the D.L.R. Ranch in Weatherford, Texas. He also played racquetball several times a week and was a regular supporter of local school sports.Shotgun was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy.Shotgun is survived by his wife, Penny Hemphill of Weatherford; sisters, Patsy Bradshaw of Lisbon, IA, Carol Lundy and Shirley Bowers of Elgin, IL.Memorial Services will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Will Rogers Equestrian Center, Amon Carter Building, South Texas Room. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Illinois on Monday, December 12, 2005.The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
