Joe H. Leaver, of Willow Park passed away after a long illness on Saturday, Jan 14th. Joe was born on March 29, 1941 in Nashville, TN. Joe, a highly decorated, disabled veteran (US Army-Ret E7) served 2 tours in Vietnam, Korea, Germany and stationed in Florida, Colorado and Fort Bliss, TX. Before retiring from Civil Service, Joe was the Furnishings Management Branch Chief at Ft Bliss, TX. As the lead vocalist/guitar, Joe also performed with several "in demand" country western bands in El Paso, TX; Las Cruces and Deming, NM and throughout Germany during his Army tours. Joe recorded an album titled "If I Ever Get Back To Georgia," co-writing many of the songs. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason in the Grand Lodge of Texas, Phoenix #275 in Weatherford. Joe was a generous, loving husband and father who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as good friendships, sitting around the campfire singing along with his guitar and RVing, eating meatloaf and mash potatoes, played in local billiard leagues and playing with his dogs. He was proud of each of his children and loved them very much. Although they lived far away, he looked forward to and cherished all their visits. He is survived by his wife of 23yrs, Mary Leaver; sons Cmdr Joel Mark Leaver (USN) (Lanie) stationed in Yokuska, Japan, Lennie Leaver of Deming, NM, Mike Leaver of Richfield, UT and daughter Trista Underwood of Austin, TX. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Leaver and Sallie (Givens) Leaver and a brother, Robert Leaver all of Nashville, TN.A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan 19th at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. His cremains will be intermed at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
