Walter G. Alvis, 79, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 6, 2006 in Fort Worth. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Cornerstone Community Church. Burial will follow in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. Walter was born November 10, 1926 in Desdemona, the son of John and Edna Alvis. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1983 after 33 years of service. Walter served in WW II on aircraft carrier, USS Takanis Bay. He later served for three years in the Air Force stationed in Japan. Mr. Alvis lived in Springtown since 1957. He was a member of Outreach of Love Church for 45 years before becoming a charter member of Cornerstone Community Church in 2002. For 12 years Walter served on Church Trustee boards. He taught Sunday School for all ages until his illness. Walter loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and continually praised Him.
