SPRINGTOWN -- Malinda "Granny" Davis, 71, a lifelong care giver, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Saturday at White's Funeral Home, Springtown. Malinda was born Jan. 31, 1935, to Augustus and Sarah Russell in Natchez, Miss. She came to Texas in 1988. She was a blessing to all she met and who knew her. A prayerful woman, she always put the needs of others before her own. She was a wonderful cook and absolute shining example of how we all should live our lives, with love and prayer. She was the matriarch who kept the family together. Malinda is gone, but will never be forgotten. Blessing be to all who knew her, she will always be in our hearts. Malinda was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Johnson, in 1966. Survivors: Daughter, Charlene Johnson and husband, Nathan, of Springtown; son, Augustus Johnson and wife, Ruby, of Searcy, Ark.; sister, Sarah Cochran of San Francisco, Calif.; brother, Augustus Russell of South Bend, Ind.; grandchildren, Marion B. James, Tonja Bell and husband, Michael, of Springtown, Augustus A. Johnson and wife, Michelle, of Little Rock, Ark., and Nikkina James of Springtown; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
