Lela Gilley "Mom" Cherry, 91, a loving mother and grandmother, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 in Azle.Funeral: 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at White's Azle Chapel. Burial: Veal Station Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to the Silver Creek United Methodist Church, 2200 Church Road, Azle, Texas 76020.Lela was born August 14, 1914 to Will and Maud Gilley in Parker County. She and her husband were retired dairy farmers. A life long member, Sunday school teacher and member of the Choir at Silver Creek United Methodist Church. Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cherry and her parents, Will and Maud Gilley.Survivors: sons, Howard Cherry and wife Sandra of Agnes, Doyle Cherry and wife Theresa of League City, James Cherry and wife Kathy of Azle; daughters, Sharon Cherry Rogers of Weatherford and Glorene Cherry Roden and husband, Tommy of Millsap; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
