Margie Marie Cockburn Wiley, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2006, at her home in Parker County.Margie was born on December 8, 1919, in Weatherford, Texas. Margie married Chester Wiley on February 18, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas. After their marriage, Margie and Chester began a dairy cattle and ranching operation that continues to this day in the Aledo area. Margie took a very active role in the lives of her children, serving as room mother for each of them, and in various capacities as leader of scouting groups as well as other school-related activities. Margie had a great love for all things outdoors, whether her beloved hunting trips spanning the United States, or simply "riding the range" with Chester, and then with Melo in her later years. Margie also served as an official weather monitor for the NOAA, Department of Commerce, and kept meticulous records as part of her duty. She was presented with a commendation for 40 years of service to the government in 1999.Margie was a particularly strong-willed and determined lady, and even when faced with insurmountable odds as a result of two debilitating auto accidents, met each challenge and overcame them with the spirit that only she could muster. Margie always had a quick wit and was never hesitant to let people know exactly where they stood with her.Margie was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 60 years, Chester Wiley in 1998, a daughter, Margaret in 1997, a grandson, Andy in 1998, and a great-granddaughter, Amber in 1997.Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmie Joe and Susan Wiley of Aledo, and Tommy and Diane Wiley of Aledo; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Terry Hyles of Aledo; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. The family would particularly like to thank Cathy, Jo, Annie, Candy and Norma, whose devotion to Margie's care over the past several years was truly a blessing. Another special thanks must go to Melo, for all the years of devotion to our family and to Margie.
