Carmine "Carmen" A. Venezia Jr., 75, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at home on June 20, 2006, after a fierce battle with cancer.Born on October 6, 1930 in Newark, New Jersey, to Carmine and Rose Venezia. He and his wife, Nancy lived in Scotch Plains, NJ until 2002 when they moved to Weatherford, Texas.Carmen was a long-time member of the National Cutting Horse Association, and watching, riding, and owning cutting horses was one of his greatest loves. He also loved being with his grandchildren at horse shows, dance competitions, baseball practices and games.He was preceded in death by his father, Carmine.The family wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and other caregivers that provided him wonderful care during his illness, with special thanks to Vitas Hospice and their loving nurses, aides, and constant caregivers.Carmen leaves behind his wife, Nancy, who has tirelessly been by his side day and night for the last eight months of his illness; his daughter, Judy Morris and husband, Craig and their children, Amanda and Alex of Weatherford; his daughter, Karen Calta and husband, Bob of Gladstone NJ and their children, Brett, Justin, Jonathan, Kariane and Husband, Mo; his daughter, Siobhan Venezia of Basking Ridge, NJ; his daughter, Robin Suriano and husband, John and their children, Zachary and Ranie also of NJ. He is also survived by his mother, Rose age 95 of Edison, NJ; brother, Raymond; and sisters, Jean and Rita Ann, all of Edison, NJ. Carmen has many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2006 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Visitation will be held 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service to be held 7 p.m. Thursday evening at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
