George Ross Turner, Jr., 83, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2006 in Springtown. Funeral: 2 p.m., Friday at White's Funeral Home. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. George was born September 1, 1922 in Stratford the son of George and Annie Ruth Lane Turner, Sr. He attended college at Northwestern State Oklahoma University. Mr. Turner served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's mate. He was an avid golfer, auctioneer, loan officer, realtor, Methodist minister, stone mason, pilot, and wrote inspired poetry. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Georgia Miller and Dorris Pearson, and grandparents, John Gaut and Cynthia Hall Lane.Survivors: Wife, Claudette Turner; mother-in-law Beatrice Eddington; daughters, Lee Anne Snozek, Clariessa Sessel, Meleah Vandiver; sons, Mel Ross Turner, Lane Allen Turner; Step-children, Pamela Craig, Glenna Wade, Robert Dedmon, and Lonnie Neal Cook ; grandchildren, Brooks DeRae Heath, Micahel Geoffrey Snozek, Marcus Jacob Snozek, Jesse Edward, Jonathan Nicholas, Matthew Austin, Benjamin Grant and Anna Ruth Vandiver; great-grandchildren, Emily Rose Lane, Ian, Alexander and Jacob Heath; sisters, Rachelle Evalyn Warren, Carol Rosalie Johnson, and Barbara Nell Thompson.
