Evelyn Marie Rector was born on April 12th 1922 to Walter and Ella Greene. A spirited young lady, she grew up in Sanger, Texas with her parents and brother, Bill. After graduating from Sanger High School in 1938, she married Walter (Buck) Schertz, and they raised two young children together, Ronny and Trena.Around 1950, she married Ray Rector and moved to Springtown, Texas. While living in Springtown, Evelyn's determination drove her to commute to Texas Woman's University in Denton until she earned a degree in Teaching. She loved learning and shared that passion with the many Elementary school students she taught throughout her 28 year career. Her devotion to education didn't stop with her own classroom; she actively supported her husband, an Agriculture teacher and Coach, by hosting FFA trips and cookouts and working countless nights at concession stands for sports events. After Ray passed away in 1969, Evelyn continued to teach in Springtown until she retired in 1985. She was always hard-working, goal-oriented, and independent. She became single, female homeowner in 1975 and took extreme pride in herself and her surroundings. After retirement, she found great pleasure in caring for her own lawn and property. Her energy and devotion was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her and even those that only knew of her.A Member of the Methodist Church, Evelyn lived her life surrounded by family and friends who enjoyed her good nature and kind, giving spirit. She passed away on Saturday, July 15th and is survived by brother Bill Greene and wife, Lil of Ft.
