John Harve "Pop" Williams, Jr., 87, left this life on Thursday, August 10, 2006 to join his wife of 60 years. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at White's Azle Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Pop was born on the Moon Ranch just outside of Paducah, TX. on April 6, 1919. His family moved from there to Turkey, where he was raised on the family ranch. He was part of the greatest generation that fought and won WWII, where he found his calling as a tail gunner. Pop had many careers in his life. He retired from the Air Force in 1963, at Castle AFB in Merced, Calif. and began a successful insurance agency. In 1969, he moved his family to Fort Worth, TX. to begin a new life and enjoy his native Texas. Pop had many different interest in life, but his two main ones were hunting and fishing, so I'm sure he will have some good fishin holes and a few great bird dogs waiting for him. Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy, Dad, and then graduate to a Pop. Thank you Daddy for raising us. Thank you Dad for your guidance. Thank you Pop for being our friend. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 60 years, Virginia Williams, his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors: wife, Bobbie; son, John Harve "J." Williams and wife Linda of Azle; daughter, India Williams Cox and husband, Richard of Merced, Calif.; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Meeks of Azle; numerous nieces, nephew and loving friends.
