Bruce Edward Kirk, 76, went to be with the Lord Friday, August 25, 2006 in Boyd. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Hilltop Family Church. Burial: Jaybird Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m, Monday at White's Funeral Home. Bruce Kirk was born February 16, 1930 in Smithfield to Thomas Samuel and Lucy Harper Gillis Kirk. He attended schools in Bedford and Springtown. Mr. Kirk served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. On June 5, 1954 he married Neoma Mae King in Oklahoma and in 1958 they settled in Springtown. Mr. Kirk worked for Chicago Pneumatic for 15 years, raised peanuts and several other crops for 18 years, and worked for Lockheed Martin 6 years before his retirement. He raised cattle and farmed until the day he went to meet the Lord. Mr. Kirk attended Friendship Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, Blue Grass Music, and reading about the old west. Mr. Kirk also cooked many a pancake and fries for his grandchildren. He was a honest, hard-working man, raising 5 children and several neighborhood children. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Kirk, Katherine Bryant, Donna Byers; and brothers, Clifford and Charles Bud Kirk. Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Neoma Kirk; children, Sandra Coggin and husband, Kenneth of Springtown, Tommie Easley and husband, Charles, Jr. of Baird, Cynthia Crill and husband, Monty of Paradise, Eddie Kirk and wife, Sabrina of Granbury, Bruce Albert Kirk of El Paso; brother, Samuel Kirk and wife, Glenda; sister, Nita Trotter and husband, M.C.; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Bacon, Nancy Halbrook; honorary brother, Dan Jennings; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
