Kathryn Reeves Demboski, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, went to Heaven on Friday, September 1, 2006.Kathryn Reeves Demboski was born in El Dorado, Oklahoma on October 4, 1919. Kathryn moved to Mineral Wells in 1938 where she worked as an assistant librarian at the Mineral Wells Library. Later, while working at the Texas Knitting Mills, she completed a college degree in business. Kathryn began her civil service career as a dental hygienist and advanced quickly as a civil service career appointed employee of the Department of the Army, having spent most of her employment in the Finance and Accounting office, Military Pay Section where she worked until retirement. She met and married Bernard Demboski while completing military paychecks for his helicopter school unit at Ft. Wolters, Texas. They were married for 39 years and were inseparable until his sudden death in August, 2005. After her retirement, she earned a legal assistant degree and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Kathryn served as President of the AARP of Mineral Wells where the membership increased more than fifty percent under her leadership. She loved to write and authored many short stories as well as poetry. The pride and joy of her life was her daughter, Dolores. She was an excellent role model for her daughter, her granddaughter, Kathi, and her grandson, Jon due to her commitment to education. She taught her family that education was not a choice, but rather a necessity. Kathryn took great pride in the fact that her daughter graduated with a Masters Degree and her grandchildren graduated with Bachelors Degrees. Her favorite quote was "Education is a gift you give yourself, and no one can ever take that away."Kathryn's legacy was her Christian lifestyle, having read the Bible from cover to cover, her love of learning, her love for her family, and her love for children, animals, and birds. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Demboski, her parents, Homer and Elizabeth Reeves, four brothers and a sister.Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Dolores Sutter and husband, Joe of Bedford; grandson, Jon Ingle of Austin; granddaughter, Kathi Trewitt and husband, David of Bedford; three great grandchildren, Aaron, Delaney, and McKenna Trewitt of Bedford; her brother, Homer Reeves and wife, Donnice of Mineral Wells; several nieces and nephews and loving friends. She is deeply loved and will be missed. Rest in peace Mother. We love you.The family would like to thank the staff of Palo Pinto Nursing Center, Solaris Hospice, and Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church for their love and care of Kathryn.Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Mineral Wells. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday preceding Rosary at 7 p.m. at White's Funeral Home, Mineral Wells. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association, or a charity of choice.
