John Fredric Murphy, 75, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at a Weatherford nursing home.Born to Joseph Maley and Lillian Barber Murphy in New London, CT, John was the second of four children- Joseph Jr., John, Elizabeth, and David. He was a graduate of Portland High School in Portland, CT where he pitched semi-pro baseball for International Silver.He was a Master Sergeant assigned to the Eighth Air Force Strategic Air Command at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth during the Korean War as a B-36 Bomber gunner. He worked 32 years for Emhart Corporation- Brenson Hinge Division as a sales representative, retiring in 1986. He then served as general manager of the Horseshoe Bend Association for five years. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Shirley of Weatherford; daughters, Colleen Hutchings of Katy, Kaye Kuzmich of Midland, Marjorie Maye of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Erica Lynn Maye of Fort Worth, Mary Ward Hadley, Katherine Mae Ward and Rachael Marie Maye all of Midland, Shawn Young, Katherine Young, and Robin Binkley of Alvarado, and one great grandson, Ward Gaige Hadley of Midland.Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Weatherford. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Alpha Omega Hospice.
