Caroline Dickerson

d. November 2, 2006

Caroline Dickerson, 99, a petite lady who lived larger than life, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2006 at her home in Weatherford. Her determination coupled with her witty humor, charm and gusto to live life to the fullest, inspired all who knew and loved her. Caroline never slowed down; even in her later years she attended church, exercise class, the theater, painted, took various classes at Weatherford College, and was a voracious reader. She was a deacon at grace First Presbyterian Church in Weatherford from 1991-1993 and was active in the Presbyterian Women's group. From 1986-1996 she was a volunteer with the Weatherford Independent School District where she worked directly in the classrooms with the students, which brought her great joy.Born and raised in Georgia, she had three younger sisters, Marguerite Whitten of Tennessee, Frances Robertson and Elsie Evans of Ocala, Florida, all who predeceased her. Caroline met and married her husband, Charles Arthur (Dick) Dickerson in Guam in 1952. They relocated to Poolville, Texas where they had a farm for 25 years before settling in Weatherford. Dick predeceased her in 1988.She is survived by her step daughters, Dottie Varnado and husband, Earl of Weatherford and Wanda Dinklage of LaMarque, Texas; her niece Caroline Sperring of Ocala, Florida; her godchildren James Hankins of Dallas, Charlotte Bainter of Houston, Karen Hickman of San Diego, Ca; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of Caroline's greatest passions was education.
