William Vito Cerbone

William Vito Cerbone, 83, of Aledo died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at a local nursing home.William Vito Cerbone was born January 24, 1923 in Bayonne, New Jersey, son of the late Adamo and Jennie Tonti Cerbone. William served with valor in the United States Marine Corp, 4th Division, receiving the Bronze Star and participated in the invasions of Tinian, Roi-Namur, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. He was owner and operator of his own supermarket in Bayonne, New Jersey for more than forty years.He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sarah Cerbone; sisters, Josephine Suarez, Mary LaRocca and Margarite Cerbone; brothers, Adam "Tootsie" Cerbone and Steven Cerbone.Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Sophie Cerbone of Aledo; son, William Cerbone, Jr and wife, Cheryl, of Aledo; daughters, Jennie Sherwin and husband, Roger, of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Arleen Cerbone of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, brother, Phillip Cerbone.Funeral services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 24, 2006 at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive guests 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
