Audrey L. Buchanan, a longtime Fort Worth resident died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in a San Antonio nursing home at the age of 99. Audrey Louise Buchanan was born on a farm near Springtown on August 19, 1907, the fifth of eight children of John and Lena Beasley. She was graduated from Pascal High School and worked as a PBX operator for Southwest Bell Telephone. On December 7, 1941, she was called to work to help handle calls that swamped switchboards following the attack on Pearl Harbor. Mrs. Buchanan spent the better part of a century living in Riverside, where she and her husband, Carl, raised three children. She was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters, her husband and her daughter, Maxine. She is survived by sons Dennis Buchanan of Portland, Oregon, and Wayman Buchanan of San Antonio, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and to nurturing relationships with all its members with wisdom and love. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford. Burial will be in the Springtown Cemetery, Springtown, Texas.
