Mildred Ruth Taylor, 76, born October 8, 1930, a life long resident of Weatherford, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006.Upon her retirement from Montgomery Ward in 1994 as credit services analyst, Mildred became an avid community volunteer, serving on the American Cancer Society Board, working with the Douglas Chandor Exhibit, Theatre Off The Square, The Parker County Peach Festival, and serving as Parker County Precinct Chair and former election judge. Mildred was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church of Weatherford, serving as an Administrative Board Member, church Fall Harvest Fair Committee member, church school secretary and writing her weekly column, "Church Watch" for the newsletter. An active member of United Methodist Women, Mildred served as president for her local unit for two years, a district officer and was delegate to the National Assembly held in Florida in 1998.Along with her community volunteer work, Mildred held memberships with the Weatherford College Ex-Students Association, Weatherford College Booster Club, Parker County Women's and Newcomer's Club, Parker County Democrats, Parker County Women Democrats, and 1974 charter member of the Weatherford Toastmistress. As a lifemember of the Weatherford Business and Professional Women's (BPW) Organization, Mildred was honored as "Woman of the Year" 1994 for her outstanding contributions for many years of service to the organization. Mildred served as Local Organization President 1961-1964, 1984-1985, District Director 1963, delegate to the BPW/USA National Convention for fifteen years and attended 35 state BPW conventions. In 1994, Mildred received the Gerald L. Phillippe, Leadership in Community Service Award as recognition for company leadership and organization abilities in public relations and named as company "Ambassador of Good Will." Mildred is survived by her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Will Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Taylor, Joe Paul Taylor, Molly Knox, Michael Lott, Patricia Gardner, Marc Daniels, Margaret Daniels, Sharon Schiffgan, Denise Zipperer and many friends who will miss her dearly.Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main Street, Weatherford, Texas. Burial will follow in the City Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit White's Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Friday.
