Dorothy Fay Kennedy Ferdig, 82, died Friday, February 16, 2007 at her home. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21 at White's Chapel of Memories. Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Dorothy was born on May 17, 1924, in Littlefield to the late Wesson and Effie Heath Kennedy. She moved to the Weatherford area with her parents and eight brothers and sisters in 1937. After moving to Parker County she graduated from Peaster High School where she loved to play basketball. One of the highlights of her life was owning and operating for many years the family bakery, Ferdig's Pastry Shop, which was located on Palo Pinto. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Weatherford and had a deep, personal relationship with her Lord. Her mission in life was to provide love and care for her family, several of whom she took into her home and cared for during their time of need. While doing so, she instilled a strong faith in God to all those she touched. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Sam "Freddie" Ferdig; brother, Garland Kennedy; twin sister, Doris Mitchell; and other sisters, Wanda Hardin, Glenda Moore, Thelma Henry, Juanita West; and nephew, Tommy Mitchell. Survivors: Dorothy is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Daulton Kennedy and wife, Gerry, Weldon Kenndy and wife, Thena; brother-in-law, Obie C. West; special friend, Cliff Callison; and three generations of nieces and nephews, who will miss her deeply. She also left behind her beloved dogs, Tiger and Rudy.
