Gearldine Lane, 88, a retired school teacher, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007 in Azle. Funeral: 10:00 A.M. Monday in White's Azle Chapel, Azle. Burial: Ash Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Gearldine was born January 15, 1919 in Orange to the late James and Allida Evans. She was a long time resident of Azle, had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Azle and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Lodge. Gearldine was a member of Ash Creek Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Humdingers at the Azle Senior Center, where she was awarded for her many hours of dedicated volunteer work. Gearldine was involved in the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Teachers and The Retired Teachers Assocation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aiden Duff Lane, whom she was married to for over 43 years. Survivors: daughter, Allida Ruth Harris and husband, David Charles Harris of Saginaw; granddaughter, Susan Elaine Harris Benton and husband, David Shayne Benton of Azle; soon to be great-grandson, Shayne Alexander Benton; numerous cousins and many friends.
