Gene King, 76, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at his home in Weatherford.Gene King was born in Ibex on Nov. 29, 1930 to the late James Robert and Eula Smith King. Gene made his career as a masonry superintendent with Walker Construction Company and retired after 28 years of service. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force, receiving his discharge in 1955. Gene called Weatherford home for 32 years. In 1959, Gene married the late Charlotte Bentley King.He was preceded in death by his wife; step-son, Charles Morton; and his parents.Survivors include brother, James Robert King, Jr and wife, Beverly, of Fort Worth; sisters, Zola Hilton of Fort Worth and Emma Smith of Watauga; step-son, Tommy Morton and wife, Clara, of Mesquite; step-daughter, Sara Morton of Granbury; grandsons, Stan Morton and wife, Karla, of Arlington, Wesley Shackleford of Austin, Troy Morton of Mississippi, and Tommy Morton of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Kim Hedges and husband, Eugene, of Sugarland, and Cindy Catchpole of Mesquite; seven great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Lee Roy Lewis of Aledo; friend, Lanette Bair; and a host of loving family and friends.Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007 in East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.
