WEATHERFORD -- Dr. Mary Jane Dykes, 75, a retired administrator with Arlington ISD, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Weatherford Regional Medical Center.Mary Jane McLin was born February 16, 1932 in Clinton, Oklahoma. She married John Hugh Dykes in Clinton in 1951. She graduated from Frederick high school in Frederick, Oklahoma in 1950. Mrs. Dykes attained her B.A. from Midwestern State University; her Masters Degree from North Texas State University; and her Ed.D. in 1983 from Texas Women's University. She taught in the Jacksboro ISD until 1972 when she joined the Arlington ISD as a Special Education Supervisor. Dr. Dykes retired from the Arlington ISD in 1992 after serving as Director of the ESL, Bilingual and Chapter One programs. Dr. Dykes was preceded in death by her parents Tom W. McLin and Willie Reeder McLin and her daughter Lora Dykes Biddy.Survivors include husband of 56 years, John Hugh Dykes; son, John L. Dykes and wife, Debra; son-in-law Gerry Biddy; grandchildren, Jonathan Biddy and wife, Penny; Christi Biddy, Amy Dykes Phifer and husband Mack; Sherry Biddy; and Lori Dykes Ross and husband Matthew; great-grandchildren, Caleb Ross, Colton Ross and Brody Phifer, mother-in-law Ada Dykes, sister-in-law Sue Dunham and many dear friends. Funeral services are scheduled 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Weatherford. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 Monday evening at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.Memorial donations are requested in Dr. Dykes' name to the Parker County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship Fund; Box 223, Dennis, TX 76439.
