Memorials: In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to Crossroads Youth Ministries of Parker County, P.O. Box 809, Weatherford, Texas 76086. Em Strickland was born in McKinney on December 14, 1931. She was the loving daughter of Sam and Bernice Hill. Em graduated from McKinneyHigh School in 1949. She subsequently received a Bachelor Degree in Music from Texas Women's University and later a Masters Degree in Counselor Education from North Texas State University. She married Ben Strickland, also from McKinney, on August 22, 1952 and the pair spent 55 wonderful years together as loving partners. Em served as an educator and school counselor her entire career. The family moved from Garland to Fort Worth in 1962. While her husband served as a professor at TCU until 1991, Em was a student counselor at Crowley High and later an instructor at TCU herself. Ben and Em moved to Weatherford in 1976 where she continued her career as student counselor at Weatherford Middle School before retiring in 1991. Emalyn was a member of Central Christian Church in Weatherford and was an active volunteer in Crossroads Ministries of Parker County as well as Freedom House. Em loved her family deeply and especially spending summers in Cuchara, Co. with those grandchildren. She touched the lives of so many throughout the community and will always be remembered for her loveand compassion for others even during her time of suffering. Emalyn is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Pennelyn Strickland (1982). Survivors: Husband, Ben Strickland; Son, Rick Strickland and Daughter-in-law, Linda; Grandchildren, Laura, Ben and Sam; Sister, Virginia Brawley. The family would like to express its deep gratitude to the Integra Care Hospice and Home Health Care Teams for the support and care provided during Em's last days. Because of their help, Em was able to complete her final chapter at home as she always wanted.
