Born May 11, 1932 in Spearmen, Texas Leslie Dwayne "Smitty" Smith, of Weatherford, went to be with his heavenly Father on June 10, 2007.Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954, during the Korean War. He served on the USS Diphda, an ammunition ship used to carry ammunition between depots in Japan and Korea, to combat units and ships, and later on the USS Current. Upon his return, Mr. Smith married Betty Jane Jordan Nov. 12, 1955. They lived in Galveston, Texas for fifteen years, where Mr. Smith worked as a welder and was a member of the local C.B. Club where his handle was "Grease Monkey". The Smith's moved to Weatherford in 1978 where Mr. Smith worked for Jordan Construction and later retired from Don Farris Trucking.He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie B. Smith; mother, Lucille McClellan Smith; sisters, Patricia Williams and Bonita Beals; and daughter, Leslie June Smith.Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Betty Smith; son, Darrell Smith and wife, Jo; daughter, Janet Warren and husband, Jason; brother, Billy Mack Smith; sisters, Loretta Kinney and husband, Jim and Jeweleen Smith, all of Weatherford; grandchildren, Janice Worsham and husband, Michael, Sabrina Johnson and husband, Mark, Crystal Beldowski and husband, Johnathan; great grandchildren, Carly Johnson, Marissa Worsham, Michael Worsham Jr. and Johnathan Beldowski Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive guests 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
