Mattie Lou Dorrough

Mattie Lou "Max" Dorrough, 85, of Weatherford, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 at her home in Weatherford.A devoted and loving mother, Arie Mattie Lou Steele Dorrough was born October 17, 1921 in Delta County, Mississippi, daughter of the late Sam Wesley and Lula Elizabeth Chestine Steele. She was known by her family as a devout Christian woman and prayer warrior. She was a faithful member of New Faith Baptist Church. Cleaning and gardening were among her many hobbies.Mrs. Dorrough was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. Dorrough; son, Jerry Dorrough; parents and many brothers and sisters.She is survived by her daughter, Suretha McCain and husband, Earle of Euless; son, Keith Dorrough and wife, Sharon of Arlington; daughter, Tanya Durant and husband, C.J of Weatherford; daughter, Penny McClure and husband, Joel of Weatherford; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Stevens of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Gracie Bradshaw and husband, Bill of Weatherford, Sue Barnett and husband, Jim of Memphis, Tennessee. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends.Funeral services are scheduled 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007 at White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford. Burial will follow in the Tin Top Cemetery, Weatherford. The family will receive guests 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
