Sarah Roberts

Sarah "Peggy" Roberts, 85, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007 at a Weatherford nursing home.Sarah Frances Roberts was born April 6, 1922 in Lee County, N.M., the youngest daughter of the late Lee and Helen Evelyn Smith Roberts. Peggy moved to Texas as a youngster and in 1938 married N.D. Roberts in Weatherford. She and N.D. lived in California for about 20 years, where he was a Baptist minister, and moved back to Weatherford in the late 1980s. A wonderful cook and lover of crafts, Peggy was also very active at Ball Street Baptist Church in Weatherford, now known as Community Baptist Church.Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, N.D. Roberts, in 1997; and both parents.Peggy is survived by her sons, Wayne Roberts and wife, Paulette, of Fort Worth, Gary Roberts and wife, Kris, of Newton, Ill.; daughter, Barbara Smicklaus and husband, John, of Norman, Okla.; son, Mike Roberts and wife, Patty, of Crosby; daughter Stormie Alley of Camarillo, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Billie Woodle; brother W.C. "Bunk" Newman and wife, Dot, all of Weatherford; many nieces and nephews and a host of loving family and friends.Funeral services are scheduled 10 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 in White's Chapel of Memories, Weatherford. Burial will follow in East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. The family will receive guests 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
