Crystal Dodson McCarty, 89, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford, the Rev. Pam Holt officiating. Interment will be at Peaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Crystal Dodson McCarty was born March 16, 1918, in Peaster, the daughter of the late Milburn and Nellie Blanch Willhite Dodson. Crystal was a longtime resident of Weatherford. On July 2, 1939, she married Lowell McCarty in Jacksboro, and they started their family. She taught school in Parker and Palo Pinto counties for 45 years before retiring in the 1980s. Crystal was a member of Texas State Teachers Association, Weatherford College Ex-Students Association and Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was also a longtime member of Central Christian Church, joining in 1957. Crystal was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell McCarty; parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
