Glenver Cleo Vannoy Shepard, 84, of Mineral Wells, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007. Born June 18, 1923 in Winnfield, Louisiana, the only child of the late James and May Vaughn Franks, Glenver had been a local resident of Mineral Wells since 1952. From 1959-1960 she owned and operated a small hamburger drive-in and café in the area of the current Metro grocery store. Glenver had been a waitress at Oden's Restaurant and the Baker Hotel. In the 1960s, Glenver became a member of the South Side Church of Christ in Mineral Wells. She was also an avid bowler for many years. Glenver is survived by her four loving children, Janice Beam of Columbus, Ga., James Shepard of Goose Creek, SC, Deborah Burns of Simpsonville, SC, and devoted son and primary caregiver, Ray Vannoy of Mineral Wells. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Renee Beam, Paige Beam, Jannean Nickols, Matthew Connell, Connie Shepard, Phyllis Shepard and James Shepard Jr.; and several great grandchildren; and her dear friend, Lisa Rankin. Graveside services are scheduled, 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in the Staggs Prairie Cemetery, North of Hwy 180 on FM 1821. The family will receive guests from 11 a.m. until noon, at the funeral home Tuesday prior to services.
