Jo Scott Mendez, 60, of Poolville, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007 in a Fort Worth hospital.Born Joene Tresa Scott in Portland, OR, daughter of the late, J.T. and Neva Whaley Scott, Jo gave of herself in order to help others. Jo was a volunteer and mentor with the Big Brothers and Sisters program, was chairman of the Toys for Tots, toy drive in Dallas and Fort Worth, helping many under-privileged children. Jo loved to organized parties and lived for her seven grandchildren and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Louis Gene Aycock.Jo is survived by her husband, Sal Mendez of Alvarado; daughters, Rhonda Mata of Fort Worth, Jill Bastardo and husband, Freddy of Brownwood, Jolie Mayhew of Poolville; grandchildren, Hailley, Cassandra, Tyler, Kandi, Alyssa, Trinity and Mason. She is also survived by her sister, Helen King and husband, Red of Chicago, IL; brother, Buddy Aycock and wife, Mary Lee of Forney; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends.The family will receive guests 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2007 at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Poolville Cemetery Tabernacle with Chaplain Craig Rolen officiating.
