Homer Dixon, 96, a life long time resident of Aledo, died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at a local hospital. Homer "Skipper D" as he was known to his friends, was born in Weatherford, Texas on August 21, 1911. He was a retired rancher. He also trained cutting horses and was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association.Homer is survived by his wife of 70 years, Geneva Dixon of Aledo; son, Doyle Dixon and wife Laura of Benbrook; daughter, Connie Towles and husband Ron of Mansfield, granddaughter, Becky Jackson and husband Jason of Mansfield; great granddaughters Syndie and Rylee Jackson of Mansfield; granddaughter, Monica Cookston and husband Douglas of Fort Worth; great grandson, Touse Cookston and great granddaughter Harper Cookston of Fort Worth; brother Leonard Dixon of Corpus Christi; sister Helen Hill of Weatherford and host of extended family and friends.Graveside services will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Annetta Cemetery. The family will receive guests 5 to 7 PM at White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
